Tadelakt

It is the traditional coating of the palaces, Turkish baths (hammans) and bathrooms of the riads in Morocco. Its traditional application includes being polished with a river stone and treated with a soft soap to acquire its final appearance and water resistance.

Tadelakt has a luxurious, soft aspect with undulations due to the work of the artisans who finish it; in certain installations, it is suitable for making bathtubs, showers, and washbasins and confers great decorative capacities. Traditionally, tadelakt is produced with the lime of the area of Marrakech.
 
Tadelakt has many advantages:

Waterproof.
Therefore tadelakt is appropriate for bathroom, bathtubs and showers, also the Turkish baths and saunas.
 When it get wet, it takes a darker color and leaves appear more its crazing.

Permeability to steam and air.
That means that the walls continue to breathe.

Great elasticity.
Thanks to this property, the tadelakt can follow all forms of buildings. 

Environmentally friendly and healthy coating.
Tadelakt sanitize rooms because it is a fungicide and bactericide.

Exceptional life span.
Tadelakt is known to gain in beauty and strength over time.

However, it is necessary to maintain it and nourish it regularly by washing with “black soap” in wet rooms or by waxing in the other room.
 

Tadelakt comes in different colors:
 
Without pigment, the natural color of the tadelakt is grey.  It will unveil its simplest expression.
Dyed by adding pigments, tadelakt comes in a range of magical colors. The use of red and yellow ochre will bring you to the Medina of Marrakech close to the desert.
Besides these warm colors, contemporary tones such as white, gray metal, black and purple will be appreciated for their elegance.
